The spirit of the Camargue on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea
Sunêlia Le Clos Du Rhône welcomes you to a 7.3-ha campsite on the banks of a turquoise blue sea, set against the wild expanse of the Camargue Regional Nature Park. It blends in perfectly with the unusual reed and marshland landscapes of one of the largest river deltas in Europe.
Situated in the heart of the Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer holiday town, this location is ideal for exciting holidays spent discovering the region’s countryside, untamed wildlife and typical culture, all in an animated and family-orientated atmosphere.
Camargue is home to an exceptional range of plants and animals, and is a veritable wildlife sanctuary with bulls, horses and migratory and non-migratory birds. The land of the Gardians (cowboys) stretches out over more than 20,000 ha between the Petit Rhône and Le Grau du Roi. With its herds of dark bulls and white horses with long manes, and its countryside of marshes and reeds, this beautiful and unique area will leave you with great memories. The region’s traditions have also been protected so while out walking you will probably come across salt workers collecting the dried salt left by the Mistral, or horseback herdsmen leading their herds, trident in hand.
The seaside location makes this campsite ideal for testing out all water sports and activities. There are also plenty of excursions to plan for in order to discover this unique region’s traditions, villages and culture. Among other things, we recommend visiting Salins du Midi by miniature train, the Scamandre Natural Regional Reserve and its extraordinary reed bed, as well as Aigues-Mortes and Arles, a city of art and culture on the banks of the Rhône.
