Visit the town of Alghero
Nestled along the north-western coast of Sardinia, Alghero’s authentic charm and Catalan roots will win you over. Stroll through the cobbled streets of the old town, with their local craft shops and traditional ice cream parlours. Let yourself be tempted by the magnificent red coral jewellery.
Explore the ramparts that surround the old town of with the family. They offer spectacular views of the turquoise sea below, in beautiful contrast to the orange tiles of the rooftops. Stop for a tasty treat at one of the small trattorias serving local specialities such as Sardinian paella or delicious seafood.
The added bonus? From the stop near the campsite, a bus will take you directly to Alghero. Take away the hassle of finding somewhere to park your car (especially in summer!)
Excursion to the Neptune caves
Whatever you do, don’t miss out on a visit to the Neptune caves. These natural wonders, located just 25km from Alghero, lie at the foot of the Capo Caccia cliff.
There are two ways to get there:
- By boat, to take advantage of the breathtaking views,
- On foot, via the Escala del Cabirol and its 654 steps carved into the rock.
Once inside, admire the reflection of the stalactites and stalagmites in the limpid waters of the cave. Clever lighting showcases these natural sculptures in an immersive experience for the whole family.
