Water sports around Alghero
A genuine playground for water sports fans, Sardinia offers a host of thrilling sports activities.
The most famous spot is unquestionably the Capo Caccia-Isola Piana reserve. Here you can explore Nereo, the biggest underwater cave in the Mediterranean. Several centres offer scuba diving and snorkelling excursions. If you prefer paddling, hop into a kayak or paddleboard around the cliffs.
You’ll also find a wide offer of sailing or catamaran trips along the coastline, departing from Alghero. Explore the natural treasures of Riviera del Corallo and its turquoise waters.

Hiking in the Porto Conte nature park
There’s more to northern Sardinia than long sandy beaches. The area is also home to the Porto Conte nature park, a protected area of 5,350 hectares. The park offers magnificent landscapes between sea and mountain, with a vast diversity of flora and fauna.
The most popular hiking trails:
- Cala Lunga (6 hours)
- Punta Giglio (4 hours)
- Trail to Cap Giglio (around 2 hours return)
- Trails in the Prigionette state forest
Hiking trails range form easy to intermediate, with few slopes.
Our holidaymakers’ top tip: Bring your wallet; admission to the park costs around €3 to €5 per adult.
