Outside artists come to perform on certain evenings and shows are also put on : theater, clowns, dancing…a perfect way to start your holidays, where all can come together in an atmosphere of sharing and new encounters. The team of the campsite also invite you to join them at the bar for "aperitif board games" whilst the teenagers and children can enjoy hectic games of billiard, table football or ping pong.

External Activities

Beautifully situated in the heart of the Basque country between sea and mountains, the campsite of the Col d'Ibardin is the ideal starting point for mountain hikes. On foot, by bike or by mountain bike, you can follow the small roads and paths in the middle of a preserved natural space. A hiking guide will be provided free of charge at the reception if you so wish, several departures on foot are possible directly from the campsite. And for those who want to discover the wonders of the Rhune without fatigue : the little train of la Rhune (a quaint little cogwheel train dating from 1924) is ideal for you.

Beach lovers or water sport enthusiasts  will enjoy visiting the beaches of Socoa or Saint-Jean-de-Luz, which are very close to the campsite. Swimming of course is on the program but canoes, sea kayaks and stand up paddle are also in the spotlight. Some nautical bases offer outings at sea, from initiation to scuba diving, surfing or sailing, as well as boat rentals and fishing days.

Bright and colorful, the Basque villages are well worth a visit. You will discover the small streets of Urrugne and will love participating in the "Tuesdays of Urrugne". Traditional Basque dances and songs are performed free of charge in the village square from 7pm. And at 20:30, go watch a demonstration of Basque pelota at the fronton. Also, take a tour in Ascain, Sare or Ainhoa, the last two being classified amongst the "most beautiful villages of France".

At the end of July, Bayonne celebrates its delicious cured ham and Espelette celebrates its famous pepper in October. A calendar of the markets is available at the reception of the campsite.

Biarritz is just a half-hour drive from the campsite of Col d'Ibardin. At equal distance is Bayonne. Finally, do not miss Saint-Jean-de-Pied-de-Port, with its citadel and its medieval city.

Tempted by a small getaway in Spain? Fontarrabie is absolutely splendid with its fortifications and houses which seem to cling from the cliffs. San Sebastian, the capital of Culture 2016, will enchant you with the beautiful Concha beach, its old district and its aquarium.
